Curent Challenges
YWAM Saint Lucia Campus
With the easing of Covid restrictions, our monthly expenses for rent and utilities have decreased significantly from nearly US$2000 to approximately US$1000. This rent covers the property from which we operate, accommodating our family of three, other full-time staff when available, visiting teams or volunteers, as well as programs and training sessions. Should the need arise, we also plan to rent additional houses nearby or guest accommodations to house larger groups (exceeding 16 people at one time).
Consequences:
This situation restricts our ability to welcome new staff, short-term volunteers, teams, or families. Additionally, it forces us to allocate a substantial portion of the funds raised through various means and voluntary donations (almost 50%) towards rent, without any possibility of owning the house or property in the future. This limitation also hampers our capacity to develop existing ministries or engage in new initiatives, particularly those that could enhance our self-sufficiency and sustainability in the long run, such as a small modern pilot garden project, among others.
Temporary needs:
We are seeking an abandoned property for sale in Saint Lucia. To support the rent for a reasonably sized temporary campus that can accommodate three small families, five single staff members, and a continuous flow of short-term volunteers, we need to raise approximately US$2,500 per month.
DONATE TO SUPPORT
By adding approximately 20 commitments of US$ 100 per month to our current volunteer contributions, we can achieve this goal. We aim to engage in a long-term property acquisition strategy, utilizing the monthly rental payments to cover a long-term mortgage, thus providing us with the flexibility to grow the ministry through sustainable investments.
Why is acquiring property important for YWAM in Saint Lucia?
CONTACT FOR MORE INFO
- For the long-term growth of YWAM Saint Lucia, we envision:
- - A training center complete with classrooms,
- - Dormitories,
- - Workshop fields for pilot projects,
- - Sports and recreational facilities, among other amenities.
- A property spanning 3 to 10 acres (1.5 to 4 hectares) would be sufficient, and we are trusting for miraculous provision.
Fulfilling the Vision
- In response to God's call, we aim to be at the forefront of the Caribbean wave. We believe that a holistic Apostolic discipleship community center will be developed here in Saint Lucia, including:
- A training component offering programs such as DTS, SBS, community development with a focus on the environment and renewable energy, all integrated within the UofN network, alongside a skills and vocational center.
- A small skills training center incorporating pilot projects, a production unit that integrates renewable energy, aquaponics, and hydroponic systems, along with workshops. The resources generated will enable the YWAM base to progressively reduce its operational costs and achieve sustainability.
- A resource center featuring a library.
- A children's ministry and center (King's Kids) equipped with fixed and mobile educational and recreational infrastructure.
- A Caribbean Wave center dedicated to welcoming, equipping, and sending out volunteer teams from all nations to address needs across the globe.
Long-term Development Potential
- On a 3 to 10-acre property designated for the YWAM Saint Lucia Center, development can occur in multiple phases (3 to 5), ultimately including:
- A dormitory with 30 to 40 beds for on-campus single students, staff, and volunteers, as well as a space for at-risk youth requiring life skills in a discipleship environment.
- Five or more small housing units for families (students or staff).
- Two to three small classrooms for training (Discipleship Training School, Community Development, Missions, and more), each accommodating around 20 students.
- Two workshops focused on skills training, maintenance, renewable energy, etc.
- A small conference hall with a capacity for approximately 100 individuals.
- Two small apartments to extend hospitality or provide a resting place for missionaries on break or passing through.
- A kitchen and dining hall.
- A multi-sports area.
- A children's playground.
- Two prayer rooms.
- A main office area.
- A small to medium-sized pilot farm (1 to 3 acres) serving as a training site and supplying some nutritional needs of the base. This farm can also function as a rehabilitation center for individuals in need and an organic production unit.
