May Update
...His faithfulness endures to all generations;
He have established the earth, and it stands fast... (Psalm 119:90)
Dear family and friends,
We are grateful for your continued prayers, support, and partnership. We are reminded every day that everything we do—whether seen or unseen, appreciated or overlooked—should be done as unto the Lord.
In a world where recognition often shapes our sense of purpose, let us stay focused on the One whose opinion truly matters. It's not about doing things for gain or for the applause of others, but about serving faithfully, knowing that God is the one who ultimately evaluates our work.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” — Colossians 3:23–24 (ESV).
Our prayer is for you to be encouraged to press on with diligence and joy, living for His glory in all things.
The Family
We continue faithfully with Asaph and his schooling. Guy is the main person working with him and we give God thanks for his faithfulness. Often times the grace of God is what carries us through and we are indeed thankful that we can lean upon Him during challenging times.
Asaph has always wished for siblings, and the only one God has brought into his life so far is Ajay, the son of the Gulabchandani family, who volunteers with us part-time. Ajay often keeps him company.
The Summer months are quickly approaching upon us which usually keeps us quite busy.
Volunteers
A Visit:
In April we welcomed a young family from Scotland / Ireland ; Mark and Nicole Deering with their 3 young children as they visited the ministry, exploring the land praying for possible future commitment.
They got involved in many of our ministry and family activities.
We praise God for their vision for youth and desire to serve.
Part Time:
We continue to give praise to God for the part time volunteers that help us carry out the ministry here. Our hearts are truly grateful for their devoted service to the work of the kingdom.
Ben and Samandy, two of our committed Part Time volunteers who met each other at one of our programs got married last April. We were honored to be invited to the wedding ceremony.
Prayer Luncheon
On May 3rd we hosted the YWAM Prayer Luncheon fundraiser which was held at the Beacon Restaurant in Soufriere and was very well attended. We give God thanks for the many persons who bought tickets and supported in one way or another. We had a worship team that did a great job and a local pastor who brought an inspiring message. Guy also shared on the work that YWAM does and he had some of the young persons who have gone through some our programs share on their experiences /testimony, after which he challenged the audience to get involved in one way or another. There were some fun give aways too that different individuals and organizations donated. From many reports, the time was well spent.
----
The chairman of the board of YWAM St Lucia, Mr Charlemagne introduced a project which he named: “Operation Home.” The idea is to raise funds to be placed in an account specifically for the acquisition of a property / permanent home for YWAM St Lucia. In his words: “YWAM St Lucia needs a home… The time has come for YWAM St Lucia to own its own space so that the operation of the Kingdom could be manifest with less limitation…!” He made a declaration that a seed of faith is planted / sowed in the atmosphere…he put out a challenge for persons to give towards this venture indicating that YWAM St Lucia needs a Home!!!
Already persons have started giving towards the project 🙏🏾
MINISTRIES
Prayer Station
This ministry, which can encompasses listening, praying, evangelizing, and more, has been actively taking place in Castries on Fridays, and at times in collaboration with local churches upon request. The Logos Hope, a floating book ship, is set to arrive in St. Lucia in June; we recently met with the advance team to explore potential partnerships, not only for the Prayer Station ministry, as they often send teams of individuals and missionaries from the ship to support various initiatives. We eagerly anticipate their involvement with our kids and youth club, as well as the boys at the Juvenile Centre.
YOUTH
Juvenile Centre
Occasionally, boys from the Government run Boys juvenile centre are released upon turning 18, completing their time, or improvement in their family circumstances. It is heartbreaking to see some leave and adopt destructive habits, contrasting with the values we are working to instill in them during our weekly sessions. Our prayer is to be able to develop a skills training centre to continue mentoring them as they transition. We are thankful for the one who attended last year's YWAM Summer program and who is very active in ongoing youth activities both online and in person..
Kid's Club
Every Saturday afternoon, children from neighborhoods like Bocages, Castries, or Corinth and others from the Children Transit Home in Gros Islet eagerly anticipate the YWAM Kids Club! Filled with excitement, they enjoy activities, the Trampoline and make new friends, learning while pursuing positive growth, either here at the YWAM base or on time to time outings to a public park or a pizza restaurant.
We are grateful for the opportunity that we had to share in some churches on the work that YWAM does among the children.
School Ministry
Every Wednesday morning we have been ministering at a Secondary school in Castries. Last term we had the form 5 students but this term we have the form 4 students. We are using the Alpha course for Youths to work with them and we are pleased to see them being participative in the sessions. Our prayer is that as we reach out to them and engage them with some important life questions, they will reflect and think about the course they want their future to take; and for those who believe to have more solid foundation for their faith before heading to College.
